EPAD (Etablissement Public d’Aménagement de La Défense) is the French public company responsible for developing the La Défense business district close to Paris.

 

It was founded in 1958 and designed the Paris business district.

 

For 50 years, EPAD has been developing and breathing life into the site by attracting major international corporations and by encouraging ambitious and innovative architectural projects, such as the SIGNAL tower.

 

EPAD conducts preliminary urban planning studies, builds infrastructures, and sells construction rights to investors:


  • 2 500 headquarter offices

  • 600 000 m² of dwellings
  • 20 000 inhabitants

  • 400 000 people in transit
  • 3 train lines, 1 metro line, 1 tramway, 1 international bus station

  • 210 000 m² of retail space
  • 50 terrace cafés and restaurants
  • 16 cinemas

  • 31 hectares of ope n areas and pedestrian thoroughfares
  • 11 hectares of green areas
  • 60 monumental modern art sculptures
