Mobilising town planners and the authorities to fight
costal flooding risks

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is launching a series of reports devoted to the economic fallout from climatic change in major cities.

The first of those reports says that climatic change and urbanisation could result in a tripling of the number of people exposed to costal flooding and the world by the year 2070.

That report sounds alarm bells for town planners as well as for the authorities that have to adapt cities' infrastructures. That is because installation of effective costal protection systems can take thirty years of more, so urgent action is needed: 150 million people will be concerned by costal flooding risks in 2070
