Mobilisation in California in favour
of sustainable development

California is the most polluted state in the United States. However, California is also a State that is rallying to promote sustainable development. Already, many vehicles are running on vegetal products (cooking oil) that are transformed into fuels via special filters. Stores selling "clean" products are springing up everywhere, just as green energy sources based on wind or solar power.

This movement started in 2006 when Arnold Schwarzenegger decided to develop a plan to cut greenhouse gasses by 25% between now and 2020. This ambitious plan has been backed by legal action against certain carmakers for public health law violations. The movement has given birth to a host of ecology-focused NGOs and an increasingly growing involvement on the part of California's citizens.

Nevertheless, the economic power represented by this State obliges it to go even further, not only in the key area of automotive pollution reductions but also in terms of electricity generating resources.
